Use Segment Control Toggles to decide where a segment can be used across Hum — from analytics to live targeting and integrations.

When to use Enable the options that match your workflow. Keep toggles off for draft segments or internal testing.

1) Create a new segment

  • Go to Audience > Explorer and click Create Segment
  • Give the segment a unique name.
  • Add an optional description.

2) Set segment visibility

  • Private — only you can access the segment.
  • Public — available to your workspace and can participate in reports, targeting, and integrations.

If you choose Public, turn on the toggles you need:

  • Include in Reports — Use the segment in analytical reports such as Content Discovery.
  • Campaign Targeting — Make the segment available for use in live engagement campaigns.
  • Build other segments — Reference this segment while building new segments in Audience Explorer.
  • Send to integrations — Sync the segment to connected integrations. (Best for segments that include email addresses.)

3) Save the segment

  • Confirm the right visibility and toggles are selected.
  • Click Save Segment (for new) or Update Segment (for changes).

4) Edit toggles later (anytime)

  • Open the segment you want to change.
  • Adjust visibility and toggles as needed. Changes apply immediately when you Update Segment.

Notes & behavior

  • Role based access control in Settings has been updated to reflect this new feature. Reach out to your Admin to have your role updated with these permissions, as applicable.
  • Visibility is set to private and all toggles are OFF by default when creating a new segment.
  • At the launch of this new feature, existing segments tied to live campaigns automatically enable the relevant toggle(s).
  • Align with your team on which segments should be reportable, targetable, or synced to downstream tools.
