Why Multi-Factor Authentication?
To enhance the security of your data and protect your account from unauthorized access, your Hum Dashboard now requires all users to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) using a time-based one-time password (TOTP) authenticator app. This extra layer of protection helps keep your information safe, even if your password is compromised.
Important
Multi-factor authentication is enabled on a per-client basis. Depending on your organization’s configuration, your dashboard instance may not have MFA enabled. If you do not see options to set up MFA, your instance may not require it at this time. If you have questions, please reach out to your administrator or support contact.
What’s Changing?
You will now be prompted to set up and use an authenticator app every time you log in to your dashboard account. This means, in addition to your usual username and password, you will need to enter a 6-digit code generated by your chosen authenticator app on your mobile device.
Setting Up Multi-Factor Authentication
Follow these steps to enable multi-factor authentication for your dashboard account:
1. Login with Your Email and Password
Begin by logging in as usual using your email address and password.
2. Download an Authenticator App
If you don’t already have an authenticator app installed on your phone, please download one from the app store. See our list of recommended apps below.
3. Scan the QR Code
After logging in, you’ll see a prompt to protect your account.
- Open your authenticator app on your phone.
- Scan the QR code shown on the dashboard using your app.
- If you can’t scan, enter the code displayed below the QR code manually.
4. Enter the 6-Digit Code
Once you’ve scanned the QR code, your authenticator app will display a 6-digit verification code.
- Enter this code into the dashboard where prompted.
- Click “Verify Code” to finish setup.
5. Authentication Complete
You are now protected with multi-factor authentication! You will need to use your authenticator app each time you log in.
