The new and improved Writing Quality feature now evaluates new criteria:

  • Research Rationale
  • Terms & Units
  • IMRaD
  • Evidence Alignment
  • Language Integrity
  • Readability

It also now provides a list of examples to support it’s reasoning.

This feature will move up in the manuscript digest, appearing below Submission Consistency.

  • Does the Introduction build a logical case that necessitates the Research Question? Is there a clear “gap statement”?

Terms & Units

  • Is nomenclature consistent throughout? Are SI units and scientific conventions followed?

IMRaD

  • Does content appear in appropriate sections? Are Results and Discussion appropriately separated?

Evidence Alignment

  • Are the conclusions and claims supported by the results actually presented? Is causal language appropriate to the study design?

Language Integrity

Readability

  • Is the manuscript free from grammar, spelling, and syntax errors that impede comprehension?
